Clare O'Donnell on the history and manufacture of the famous Melton Mowbray pork pie.

17th September

Andrew Tennet was a police officer in Northamptonshire for 30 years, rising from the rank of Police Constable to Detective Chief Inspector and was an accredited Senior Investigating Officer, licensed by the Home Office to investigate the most serious of offences.

Here Andy discusses the seven key strategies that should drive any major investigation and particularly any homicide enquiry. Andy also touches on how he would brief his interview teams in such enquiries, before demonstrating how all these strategies and policies guided him in his first major investigation as a newly qualified Senior Investigating Officer, when the bodies of a mother and her two children are found murdered in their home.

The husband and father of the deceased is missing but is he also a victim, is he absent through work or is he the offender? A nationwide hunt begins and with the help of the media and several other national institutions, the net begins to close in.
